Several Meemic volunteers visited the Oakland Livingston Human Services Agency, which hosts a Head Start program in Pontiac, MI, to paint three murals in the building and improve the landscaping outside.

Meemic volunteers were on hand as dozens of students, mostly from junior high and high school, learned about various careers at Utica Community Schools’ annual Career Expo. The volunteers discussed the diversity of careers available in the insurance industry, including agent, human resources, claims, software development, marketing, customer service, project management and more. Meemic employees visit several career fairs throughout the year.

Thirty-two people from Meemic (employees and their families) participated in the Making Strides of Oakland County walk for breast cancer awareness and research on Oct. 27. Team Meemic raised $548 on a chilly, rainy morning.

Several Meemic employees spent hours one weekend to give the staff at Great Lakes Academy a makeover for their teachers’ lounge.

At this Meemic Foundation Workshop featuring Jerzy Drozd, teachers learned exercises they can use with their students to teach literacy fundamentals through creating comics in a wide variety of subjects, from English and social studies to music and world languages.

This year, Meemic partnered with local nonprofit Bottomless Toy Chest for our holiday fundraiser. Based in West Bloomfield, MI, Bottomless Toy Chest delivers gifts to pediatric cancer patients spending their holidays in the hospital. It was founded by Mickey Guisewite, whose son was diagnosed with leukemia.

It was mostly beautiful weather at Motor City Pride, and Meemic was, of course, proud to be there to help celebrate diversity and inclusion as one of the sponsors of the big event in downtown Detroit. Thanks to the Meemic employees and agents who helped out at the booth!

At Meemic’s annual Souper Bowl, we held a bake sale that raised more than $430 for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The children and grandchildren of Meemc employees were bright eyed and bushy tailed for their first day of school.
